Designed To Be Updated
The homepage is designed to be updated frequently and this is for a very important reason. The majority of pages on the site will probably only see periodic updates due to the nature of the content. Unfortunately, both humans and search engines learn not to return to a page often if it is not regularly updated.
The homepage of this site incorporates a NEWS
section which should be updated at least twice a week. This gives humans a reason to visit the site regularly and also trains search engines to crawl
the page frequently looking for expected changes.
The News
section on the homepage should be updated at least twice a week.
NEWS
section style rules
Posted NEWS
items can be one paragraph only. The length of a NEWS
item should be no more than 4 lines (5 lines is the absolute max). For longer posts use Info Links.
Info Links are set in the Link panel and the option is available when you go to set your link. When a a visitor to your website clicks on an Info Link it opens a pop-up window displaying the content you added to the Info Link.
Info Links can be edited by highlighting the link text and returning to the Link panel
When in the EDITOR panel you can test your Info Links by clicking the Preview button.
All headings, paragraphs, and links, in the NEWS

Setting links in the NEWS
section
When adding links to the NEWS
section try to use short but descriptive links. We do not want a bunch of Learn more
and Read more
type text populating the NEWS
section, but rather descriptive links such as:
Webinar details and registration
Visit Benchmarking Help Centre
Mayors' Energy Challenge
